IN FOCUS: Senior Airman Hayley Sewell

UNIT: 419th Medical Squadron

TITLE: Health services manager

FUN FACTS: Hayley is a 22-year-old Boise, Idaho, native who moved to Utah seven years ago with her family. She’s a full-time student pursuing a degree in criminal justice at Salt Lake Community College. Hayley says she’s obsessed with coffee, having had her first cup in basic training. “I love, love, love coffee,” she said. “It started with one cup a day and has gone up to four. I will drink it black, to a froufrou peppermint mocha style.” When she isn’t doing class work, you can find her de-stressing in the kitchen baking. “I focus on the recipe, following the steps, like making sure the butter is soft to what needs to mix in next, and it helps reduce my stress,” Hayley said. “I’m known for my chocolate chip cookies.” She also enjoys “glamping” (a fancy way of camping) with her family. “I just love the way firewood smells when it’s burning, it gives you a warm nostalgic feeling.” Hayley has been serving in the Air Force Reserve for two years, helping Airmen through their health services at the medical squadron.
