Hill fighter wings to perform F-35 flyover at WSU this Saturday

  • Published

Airmen from the 388th and 419th Fighter Wings here will conduct an F-35A Lightning II flyover of Weber State University’s Stewart Stadium Saturday shortly after 12:45 p.m. The flyover will take place prior to kick off during a regular season football game between the WSU Wildcats and the Sacramento State Hornets.

More than 40 maintainers and support personnel from the 388th and 419th FWs are working this weekend to make the flyover a success. Flying the jets will be 466th Fighter Squadron pilots, Maj. James Rosenau and Lt. Andrew Martin, who have a combined 2,000 flying hours throughout their military careers.

Residents in Ogden should prepare for jets to be much closer than usual flying operations, as jets are planned to fly 1,000 feet above the stadium.

The 419th FW is the first Air Force Reserve unit to fly and deploy with the operational F-35A. The 419th and 388th at Hill AFB fly and maintain a fleet of F-35A Lightning II fighter jets in a Total Force partnership, which capitalizes on the strength of both the active duty and reserve components.
