The “In Focus” series is a monthly feature that puts the spotlight on some of the 419th Fighter Wing’s best and brightest Reserve Citizen Airmen. Find it on Instagram @419fw

Meet Senior Airman Jason Dickson, a munitions technician in the 419th Maintenance Squadron.

Jason, 24, calls himself a “vanilla” guy who enjoys the simple things in life. He was born and raised in Ogden, Utah, and married his high school sweetheart, Natasha, at 18.

But Jason started a new chapter with the Air Force Reserve last year when he became an ammo troop in the 419th MXS.

“We’re the ones who build bombs for F-35s, anything from 500 to 2,000 pounds. This job has given me the opportunity to learn some great things and meet new people.”

The Airman says he hopes to make a career out of the Reserve and eventually get a job working full time in the wing.

When he’s not on duty, the self-professed “car nerd” enjoys tinkering with automobiles, like his father did when he worked as a mechanic.

“My dad is someone I look up to, especially now that I’m older. I remember coming home and his hands were black and blistered from working on cars all day.”

Thanks to his dad, Jason’s love for cars grew throughout high school with his low-riding ’95 Miata. Now the family man drives a (just slightly tricked out) ’09 Corolla – and he’s OK with that. His main goal is to “live a full life and watch my two daughters grow up.”
