Reservists from the 419th Cyber Flight headed to Kadena Air Base, Japan to network ideas and practices to modernize the field with the 18th Communications Squadron for their two-week Annual Tour, Sept. 1 to 16, 2023.

Knowledge Management is responsible for the collection, analysis, and dissemination of information and intelligence, ensuring the Air Force has the ability to make informed decisions to complete the mission.

“Our goal for this annual tour is to strengthen our ties with the Pacific Air Forces KM team by collaborating knowledge and processes,” said Staff Sgt. Bryce Terry, Knowledge Manager with the 419th Cyber Flight. “There is no one way to do anything, exposure to ideas and environments increases the amount of tools in your belt.”

Terry also emphasized the importance of the Multi-Capable Airmen concept and the ability to quickly adapt in new environments.

“We will have some type of movement within our career and a new environment can overwhelm you if you’re not prepared,” he said. “I believe that resilience is more important than any plan or process. It is a mindset that can be implemented not only at Hill, but any base you go to.”

From creating launch manuals to storing and disposing of high-level documents, KM plays a critical role within every department of the Air Force. These professionals manage the flow, distribution, life cycle and disposal of communications and information integral to our operations.

Okinawa, Japan is one of the many places around the world where reservists can hold their required 2 week active-duty Annual Tour in addition to their one weekend a month.
