IN FOCUS: Senior Airman AJ Arteaga

UNIT: 419th Operations Support Flight

TITLE: Aircrew flight equipment technician

FUN FACTS: AJ is a 21-year-old Utahn with high ambitions. The Air Force reservist works in the aircrew flight equipment shop, where he makes sure F-35A pilots are ready for flight: helmets, flight suits, parachutes, the works. His favorite part is working with the sophisticated F-35 helmet, which he says can do “amazing things.” He’s also working on a degree in aeronautical science in hopes of becoming an airline pilot. In his civilian life, he works as a civil servant at the Ogden Air Logistics Complex at Hill Air Force Base, Utah. In his spare time, AJ volunteers to coach wrestling at his alma mater, Fremont High School, and enjoys playing basketball and flag football. He also finds time to hike and run marathons!
