HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah -- The 419th Security Forces Squadron welcomed a new commander this weekend as Capt. Juan Cabrera officially assumed command during a ceremony Oct. 22.
“There are two things I hold in high regard: love for this nation and its Air Force, and the 419th Fighter Wing,” Cabrera said during his remarks. “I want to support you and will always make decisions with the consultation of my NCOs.”
Cabrera earned his commission through the Army National Guard in 2005, then served as a military policeman until 2010, when he returned to the Air Force Reserve. In 2013, Cabrera deployed to Afghanistan, where he served as liaison officer to 3rd Special Forces Group coordinating Air Force support to Army units.
The 419th SFS is home to more than 80 Air Force reservists who train for worldwide deployment.
Cabrera said he was honored to have his father, retired Senior Master Sgt. Eduardo Cabrera, pin the commander’s insignia on his lapel and render a salute during the ceremony.
