Senior Master Sgt. Eric Eberhard, 419th explosive ordnance disposal technician, took the floor at the Hill Aerospace Museum Friday to demonstrate the capabilities of a remote-controlled robot to 6th and 7th graders from a nearby aerospace summer camp.

419th EOD technician, Staff Sgt. Devin Stuart, operated the robot via remote control while Eberhard explained its valuable role in going into harm's way in place of a person to disarm explosives.

"Sergeant Stuart can use the lights and the camera mounted on the robot to see what he's doing from his control station, a safe distance away from the bomb," Eberhard explained.

Stuart used the robot to pick up a dummy explosive and a set of keys. The children also learned about the importance of the protective bomb suits worn by the EOD techs.
