The Air Force's campaign aims to raise awareness of summer safety - a season when the number of accidents typically skyrockets. "Summer is a great time to get outside, try new things, and test your skills and capabilities," said Tech. Sgt. Jenipher Sears, of the 419th Safety office. "But it's also a time to make safety a priority." The most common summer accidents involve outdoor recreational activities, especially those that include vehicles, such as motorcycles and all-terrain vehicles. The following are some of the easiest ways Airmen can stay safe this summer, according to Sears: · Take time to plan carefully · Bring all the right equipment · Invite friends along with you · Be realistic about your abilities In a memo to Airmen dated May 20, Secretary of the Air Force Michael Donley, Air Force Chief of Staff Mark Welsh, and Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force James Cody said the theme of this year's campaign is "Safe-n-Sound, All Year Round."
