The 419th Security Forces Squadron trained Explosive Ordnance Disposal Airmen on a new firing course here Saturday.

"The new firing course involves moving while shooting, transition drills and failure drills," said Tech. Sgt. Nathaniel Yeaman, 419th SFS journeyman. "All these new additions take better weapon handling skills."

EOD Airmen were required to wear all their gear including a helmet, load bearing vest and a drop holster. Some of the magazines given to them contained "dummy" rounds to simulate a weapon malfunction, according to Senior Airman Elijah Rodriguez, 419th SFS fire team member.

"We use dummy rounds so if their weapon jams, they can go through all the steps to fix it properly," Rodriguez said. "That's just one example of a 'real world' scenario in the new course."
