Maj. Rodney Hammond assumed command of the 419th Civil Engineer Squadron during a ceremony here Saturday.

Hammond was commissioned in 1997 through the Reserve Officer Training Corps at Bowling Green State University. Before assuming command, Hammond was the 419th CES operations flight commander. In his civilian career, he is a lead avionics engineer for the A-10 system program office at Hill.

Hammond replaces Maj. James Morgan who had served as the squadron's commander since July 2011.
