Keith Knudson, 419th Fighter Wing commander, applauds Maj. Orren Squires after giving him a Purple Heart for wounds he received while deployed to Afghanistan in May 2011. Squires, the 419th Civil Engineer Squadron emergency management flight commander, was in the lead truck of a convoy when it was struck by an improvised explosive device and thrown about 30 feet. Immediately following the incident, he and the other members who were able to walk set up security around the truck and aided in the capture of a bomb-maker. Knudson told the civil engineer squadron how proud he was of them for their support and service, and recognized them for receiving more awards than almost any other squadron in the wing.
