67th aerial porters bring home two trophies

HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah --  Three days of tough competition proved worthwhile for five members of the wing's 67th Aerial Port Squadron who participated in Air Force Reserve Command's Port Dawg Challenge last week.

Of more than 20 competing squadrons and 11 timed events, the 67th team cleared space for two trophies.

At the PDC closing ceremonies Oct. 29, the Hill reservists were named top performers in the fit-to-fight event, which included running laps and performing burpees, and the trivia category, which required extensive knowledge of aerial port procedures, the Airman's Manual and more.

"Leadership is bursting with pride to have won these two events," said Lt. Col. Melani Howard, 67th APS commander. "These guys are the brains and brawn of the reserve aerial port."

Colonel Howard said the PDC was a fun, challenging experience for both competing Airmen and leadership.

"It was a growing experience," she said. "Knowing that you're looking at the cream of the crop - the best of the best in the aerial port - it gets you excited about the job that we do."

10K Course - 39th APS, Peterson AFB, Colo.
25K Course - 41st APS, Keesler AFB, Miss.
In Transit Visibility Cargo - 72nd APS, Tinker AFB, Okla.
ITV Passenger Services - 88th APS, Joint Base Dix-McGuire-Lakehurst
Pallet Build-up - 48th APS, Hickam AFB, Hawaii
Joint Inspection - 72nd APS
Load Planning - 27th APS
Cargo Restraint - 96th APS, Little Rock AFB, Ark.
Engine Running On/Off Load - 32nd APS, Pittsburgh IAP ARS, Pa.
