Chief Master Sgt. Elizabeth Atismé, 419th Fighter Wing command chief, retired this weekend after more than 23 years of service, including 17 years in the Air Force Reserve.

Family, friends and colleagues gathered here for her retirement ceremony July 11, where the chief reflected on her career. Over the past four years, she served Airmen at Utah's only Air Force Reserve unit as the wing's highest enlisted member.

During the ceremony, Chief Atismé recognized people who influenced her career, giving special thanks to her family. She said former 419th FW commanders and coworkers had taught her important lessons on leadership, listening to others and life in general.

Chief Atismé began her career as an operations resource management specialist and squadron scheduler in 1987. Her career path led her to become a first sergeant in 2002 and ultimately the 419th command chief in 2006.

Replacing Chief Atismé as the newly assigned 419th command chief is Senior Master Sgt. Cindy George. She will serve as the wing commander's liaison to other senior officers, noncommissioned officers, base agencies and community organizations. She is responsible for supervising, assisting and monitoring programs affecting wing military members and their families. She also assists and guides the First Sergeants' Group, Chiefs' Council and the Top Three Organization.

Sergeant George entered the Air Force Reserve as an Air Reserve Technician administrative assistant with the 419th FW in 1992. Before becoming command chief, she served as first sergeant to the 419th Medical Squadron.
