Air Force Headquarters recently launched a new Web site to highlight its new Year of the Air Force Family campaign theme, "The Air Force is a great place to live, work, play."

The Web site, www.myairforcelife.com, is "designed to highlight the great programs and activities we offer that significantly contribute to the overall quality of life for Airmen and their families," said Col. Sandra Adams, commander of the Air Force Services Agency, a Field Operating Agency in San Antonio, Texas, in a memorandum distributed Oct. 29 that announced the new Web site and marketing campaign.

The Web site features several opportunities for Air Force families to actively participate on the site and engage in competitions throughout the year. Prizes will be given to the winners of the competitions, and the winner of the current competition, a short story contest, will receive a computer package, worth approximately $2,000, and a feature in Military Spouse magazine.

Another area of the site includes a localized page where each Air Force base can upload events on the online calendar to inform local families of programs and events it offers.

The Web site launched on Nov. 1, which was also the first day of both the Military Family Month, as recently designated by President Barack Obama, and the Air Force Family Week, which runs Nov. 1 through 7.

It is undetermind at this time whether Hill AFB will highlight its events on this portion of the Web site.

"Until that time we will depend on the Hilltop Times and our Marketing Department to get the word out," said Janice Hollen, 75th Force Support Squadron Airman and Family Services chief.

Hollen added that the Marketing Department received pens, lanyards and key chains to give to members of Team Hill which promote the new campaign.

More information about the Year of the Air Force Family can be found at the U.S. Air Force's official Web site, http://www.af.mil/yoaff.
