Thud, sweat and tears Published Oct. 9, 2009 By Public Affairs staff 419th Fighter Wing HILL AIR FORCE BASE, UTAH -- Tech. Sgt. John Johnson, of the 419th Maintenance Squadron, sands the F-105 Thunderchief that once stood at the entrance to the former 419th Fighter Wing headquarters. Wing personnel recently refurbished and painted the aircraft as it appeared in 1981 when it first served with the 508th Tactical Fighter Group's 466th Tactical Fighter Squadron at Hill Air Force Base. The aircraft will be placed in a heritage park near the corner of Wardleigh Road and E Avenue, along with an F-16. The park, which will be completed in the spring of 2010, is dedicated to the service of Hill's reservists.
