Reservists take first step in preserving wing history Published Aug. 17, 2009 By Bryan Magaña 419th Fighter Wing Public Affairs HILL AIR FORCE BASE, UTAH -- Members of the 419th Maintenance Squadron and 388th Equipment Maintenance Squadron remove an F-105 Thunderchief from its pedestal in late July. The collaborative process took about three hours, but required weeks of rigorous planning. The static, which adorned the former 419th Fighter Wing headquarters building for more than 25 years, will be cleaned, restored and exhibited at a heritage park at Hill Air Force Base.
