IN FOCUS: Senior Airman Melinda Gunn Published March 12, 2009 By Senior Airman Brandon Craig 419th Fighter Wing Public Affairs HILL AIR FORCE BASE, UT -- Public Affairs recently sat down with Senior Airman Melinda Gunn, a medical technician in the 419th Medical Squadron, as part of its In Focus series, which shines the spotlight on the 419th Fighter Wing's outstanding Citizen Airmen. Where are you from? Salt Lake City, Utah. Why did you join the Air Force Reserve? Wow! There are a lot of reasons. I wanted my children to be proud and I wanted to further my education in the medical field. How long have you been in the Reserve? Two years. What is your Air Force job? I'm a med tech, 4N0. What are some of your duties as a med tech? I take vitals on patients and pre-screening assessments. Have you ever deployed as a Reservist? No. What have you gained from serving in the Air Force Reserve? I've gained a lot of medical knowledge and experience in the healthcare profession. What are your goals in the Reserve? Once I get my nursing degree, I plan to commission and transfer to McChord. What is your civilian job? I'm working man days right now for the 508th Aircraft Sustainment Wing as an assistant unit deployment manager. What are your hobbies? I like wakeboarding, camping and snowboarding. I've been doing them my whole life, since I was a little girl. Do you have any travel ambitions? Yes, I'm going to Mexico in May!
