Commander introduces newsletter, Website Published Feb. 6, 2007 By Col. Gary Batinich 419th Fighter Wing Commander HILL AIR FORCE BASE, UT -- Many 419th Fighter Wing personnel may be surprised to see the Talon Citizen newsletter arriving in their mailbox. Over the past several years, our people have received the HeadsUp newspaper, the Talon newsletter and most recently, the Total Force Viper newspaper. Change is all around us, and the way Air Force Reserve and active duty components are communicating with internal audiences is no exception. In the past, regular newspaper or newsletter publications were the primary means of communication for wing commanders. Times have changed! With most people using a computer to gather news and information, the Air Force is in the process of transitioning to mostly Web-based products that personnel can view from public Websites. In order to transition from a published product to a fully Web-based product, the 419th public affairs office has developed the Talon Citizen. This newsletter features the wing's top stories which are also available online www.419fw.afrc.af.mil. The wing's Website also features Air Force and Reserve Command news as well as valuable links to other helpful sites. This month's Talon Citizen is the only issue that will be delivered to the homes of our personnel. Beginning in March, copies will be available at UTA sign-in. Members will also be reminded, via email during UTAs, to visit the wing's Website where they can also view the stories. Eventually, once our people become accustomed to visiting the wing's Website, the Talon Citizen will no longer be printed. This change will save a significant amount of money in printing and distribution costs. I urge everyone to begin visiting the wing's public Website.
