Meet one of our deployed reservists, Senior Airman Colby Cook, an F-35 crew chief in the 419th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. He is currently serving in Europe with a Theater Security Package.

Colby, 25, joined the Air Force Reserve four years ago. “My dad was in the Army,” he said. “I’ve always had a passion for planes and I wanted to learn all I could about working on them.”

Originally from Texas, the Reserve has taken him across the world, including Japan, Italy, and Germany.

When he’s not working on F-35s, his hobbies include real estate, trading stock, snowboarding, investing, and the occasional game of Call of Duty or Fortnite. He also enjoys hanging out with his family and three-year-old nephew.

In 2014, he went to school for aviation and earned his professional pilot’s license. Now he flies whenever he can and said he enjoys the wide open skies of Utah.

Colby plans to work in civilian aviation and is on track to earn a bachelor’s degree in aviation management from Utah Valley University this fall.
