Miller takes command of 419th Operations Group

HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah -- The 419th Operations Group held a change of command ceremony here Aug. 3 as Col. Sean Carpenter relinquished command to Col. Mathew Miller.

Prior to assuming command, Miller served as special assistant to the commander of the 419th Operations Group and commander of the 419th Operations Support Flight. Miller earned his commis­sion in 1997 and has more than 3,000 flying hours.

During his remarks, Miller said he looks forward to the challenge of leading the OG. He also thanked the men and women assigned to the group for their hard work.

Carpenter led the 419th OG since 2018 and oversaw the first F-35 deployment to the Middle East. He has more than 3,000 flight hours and has flown fighter jets his whole career. He will now serve as commander of the 926th Wing at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada.

The 419th OG is the hub of Air Force Reserve flying operations at Hill and includes the operations support flight and 466th Fighter Squadron, which flies the F-35 Lightning II.
