HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah – Col. Erik Fiederer assumed command of the 419th Operations Group from Col. Mathew Miller during a ceremony here Feb. 6, 2022.

Fiederer received his commission from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1998 with a bachelor’s degree in aeronautical engineering. After graduating from pilot training, Fiederer flew the F-16 at Kunsan Air Base, Republic of Korea, and at Hill Air Force Base.

Fiederer left Hill AFB to serve as a pilot instructor at Moody AFB, Georgia, for four years. He returned to Hill in 2009 and transitioned to the Air Force Reserve in 2012.

In 2016, Fiederer accepted a position as the deputy division chief of reserve plans and programming at the Pentagon for two years before returning to Hill AFB, where he most recently served as special assistant to the commander of the 419th OG.

As the 419th OG commander, Fiederer will be responsible for ensuring combat readiness of the OG and preparing personnel to deploy in support of worldwide operations with the 419th Fighter Wing.
