HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah – Airmen from the 419th Force Support Squadron were named winners of the 2022 Air Force Reserve Command John L. Hennessy Food Service Excellence Award.
The award is presented to the food service team that excels with the highest culinary proficiency standards during a field feeding evaluation. Each team was evaluated on meal prep, safety, sanitation, and customer service fundamentals.
The four-hour event took place here March 5, when eight Airmen from the 419th FSS simulated lunch services at a forward-deployed location, building a kitchen and dining area from the ground up, then feeding 100 military personnel.
Col. Matthew Fritz, 419th Fighter Wing commander, attended the event and said the reservists did a fantastic job working together.
“The team crushed it, winning in record time,” Fritz said. “We are very proud of the team and their performance. Congratulations on a job very well done!”
Staff Sgt. Lucero Myers, 419th FSS, was also selected as a nominee for the Hennessy Traveler Association award. HTA nominees are given an opportunity to receive a week of professional training at the Culinary Institute of America in San Antonio, Texas. The enhanced industry training serves to heighten and sharpen food service skills.
