HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah – Airman 1st Class Angeles Dominguez Antunez, 419th Sustainment Services Flight, is the first member of her family to join the military.

Born in Las Vegas, Nevada, she spent her childhood moving back and forth between the United States and Mexico with her parents and six siblings.

Despite the constant moving, she was a shy child. But as she matured, she looked for ways to improve herself, challenge herself, and force her out of her comfort zone -- and the Air Force Reserve was the right path.

“I was nervous to try something new and just talk to new people in general,” Dominguez Antunez said. “I knew that if I wanted to grow as a person, I needed to change those habits.”

Since joining the Reserve, Dominguez Antunez has overcome her shyness and formed connections with the many people she meets. She’s using her time here to prepare for college, where she plans to train as a medical assistant.

In her free time, she plays chess and continues to enjoy the occasional visit to Mexico with her family.
