HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah -- The 419th Fighter Wing named First Step House its civilian Employer of the Year during an awards ceremony here Feb. 4, 2023. Mr. Shawn McMillen accepted the award on behalf of the organization.
First Step House has spent the last 65 years addressing the challenges of addiction, mental health, and homelessness in the Salt Lake City, Utah, area. Its programs provide support to more than 1,200 community members each year some of whom are military veterans.
While First Step House is proud to provide services to veterans through its programs, they also work diligently to support their reservist staff members. First Step House regularly goes above and beyond the requirements of law to make sure that staff members who are on orders or deployed are taken care of.
Past winners of the 419th Employer of the Year include Zions Bank, Delta Air Lines, UPS, Salt Lake City Police Department, Utah Military Academy, West Valley City, and Washington Heights Church.
