Air Force reservists from the 419th Fighter Wing participated in the 8th Annual Ruck March here today.

Participants from the wing's medical squadron, security forces squadron, logistics readiness squadron, and 67th Aerial Port Squadron toted 40-pound rucksacks as they trekked along Hill's perimeter road, a 13-mile scenic stretch.

The event, hosted by the Air Force Office of Special Investigations, honored Tech. Sgt. Ryan Balmer, a special agent assigned to Hill AFB who was killed in Iraq from wounds sustained when his vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device in 2007.

Participants, including dozens of Airmen from Hill AFB, were encouraged to fill their rucksacks with canned food items to be donated to local shelters.
