466th FS leadership changes hands Published Jan. 27, 2014 By Senior Airman Allen Stokes 419th Fighter Wing Public Affairs HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah -- The 466th Fighter Squadron hosted a change of command ceremony here Sunday, where Lt. Col. David Castaneda assumed command of 31 pilots and 20 enlisted personnel. Relinquishing command was Lt. Col. Paul Delmonte, who had served as commander since January 2012. Castaneda was born and raised in Las Vegas. He was commissioned in 1993 after graduating from the U.S. Air Force Academy. After serving for five years on active duty, he joined the Air Force Reserve in 1999. He has served in multiple capacities at the squadron, group, and wing level as both an Air Reserve Technician and a traditional reservist. Castaneda is a senior pilot with more than 2,200 hours in the F-16. He has more than 400 combat hours and has served in Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, Southern Watch, and Noble Eagle. Delmonte has been selected for colonel and will do special projects on behalf of the 419th Fighter Wing. He is a native of upstate New York. He was commissioned in 1989 after graduating with an engineering degree from the U.S. Air Force Academy. Delmonte has been a reservist at Hill AFB since 1998.
