When deciding to join the military, most people take time to think about all their options, learn more about the type of job they'll have, and talk it over with family and friends. But not Senior Airman Bo Taylor. He said the decision to join the Air Force Reserve was an easy one. Three years after joining, he's the chief of personnel relocations in the 419th Force Support Squadron. I recently sat down with Taylor to learn more about him.

Why did you join the Reserve?

It was really a spur-of-the-moment decision. I was working at the Newgate mall selling cell phones, and my friend gave me a recruiter's contact information. I didn't really know what my job would be or much about the Reserve, but I went with my instincts. Thankfully, it's all panned out pretty well so far.

Is it easy for you to make quick decisions?

Most things that people take time to research and shop around for, I just make go with my gut. I picked out a car quickly, and I moved on a whim. I didn't look at other cars or apartments. I went with my first instincts, and everything has worked out.

What are some goals you're working on?

I wanted to get my Community College of the Air Force degree within five years, which I have now. I'm going to get my bachelor's at the University of Utah in organizational management, which deals with human resources and equal opportunity stuff, as well as management and leadership. I also plan to pin on Staff Sergeant in the next year.

Tell me about your job in the Reserve.

Whenever anyone leaves the wing for any reason (retiring, moving, discharges, etc.), I take care of the paperwork. I started in customer service when I first came to the wing, then I moved to force management where I handled the awards and decorations.
