Wing leaders learn EOD mission

Chief Master Sgt. Carmen Madia (left), 419th Fighter Wing command chief, and Col. Bryan Radliff (center), 419th commander, get an equipment demonstration from Master Sgt. Fred Schoeffler, 419th Explosive Ordnance Disposal technician. The wing leaders spent the afternoon with the EOD team July 20 to learn more about their training and mission. The technicians showcased their expertise and explained how they work with high-tech equipment in deployed environments, including remote-controlled robots, used to grab and disarm explosives, and a Kevlar bomb suit, which weighs about 90 pounds and is equipped with an internal cooling system.
