Reserve F-35 pilot takes command of 419th OG

The 419th Operations Group welcomed a new commander here June 12.

Col. David Castaneda, who just returned from two months of F-35 pilot training, assumed command of the 419th Operations Group from Col. Brian Silkey.

Castaneda graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1993 and became an active duty F-16 pilot. He joined the Air Force Reserve in 1999. Prior to his assignment with the 419th OG, he served as special assistant to the 419th FW commander.

Silkey commanded the 419th OG since 2013 and will now move on to a position at 10th Air Force at Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base, Texas
