Col. Walter “Buck” Sams, 419th Fighter Wing commander, presents the Air Force Combat Action Medal to Senior Airman Thomas Benincosa of the 419th Security Forces Squadron, who deployed to Kirkuk, Iraq early this year in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. While working a night shift in a tower along the base perimeter, Airman Benincosa repelled an enemy attack on his post, which earned him the distinguished medal, as well as accolades for his valiant efforts in the Global War on Terror.
