Major Steven A. Wells took command of the 419th Logistics Readiness Squadron during a change of command ceremony here on June 10, 2022.

Command of the group was relinquished by Lt. Col. Justin Crump who will now be serving as the Director of Operations for the 67th Aerial Port Squadron.

“As I talk to you all today, I thank you for letting me grow. I hope I helped you grow as well,” said Crump. “One of the best things I’ve seen as a commander is watching you develop and become better.”

As a former executive officer for the 22nd Air Force, Wells has supported more than 15,000 Reserve Airmen and 105 unit-equipped aircraft with tactical mobility operations and other vital mission sets.

“I’m happy to be stepping into a role with this squadron and thank you for entrusting me with it,” said Wells. “Each one of the functions of LRS is essential to the success of this domain and the Air Force as a whole.”

Wells enlisted in the Air Force in 1997, serving four years active-duty as a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning technician before joining the Air Force Reserve in 2001. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina in 2004, opening the door for him to commission through the Deserving Airman Program in 2011.

The 419th Logistics Readiness Squadron is home to more than 100 reservists who oversee a mass of resources to keep Air Force personnel and equipment moving anywhere they are needed.
